HowertonWootenEvents_Intern

I’m pleased to announce our search for a 2013 intern.

This internship position is an opportunity to work alongside our event management team and learn the ins and outs of an independent event planner’s job —  So, does that mean we plan weddings?  Of course it does!  But, we also plan conferences, cultural festivals and legislative fly-ins for various organizations and government contractors.

If you are interested in applying for our 2013 internship, please email your cover letter and resume to us. Given the size of our team, phone calls are strongly discouraged.  I have excellent manners, so please know that I will reply via e-mail to everyone that applies.

Here are some answers to the questions we typically receive regarding our internship position.

What is the deadline to apply for an internship? For our 2013 internship positions, the submission deadline is Friday, April 26, 2013.

Can I receive school credits for this internship? Yes. In the past, our interns have received college credit for their position at Howerton+Wooten Events. It is your responsibility to provide us with the necessary paperwork before your school’s deadline.

Is this position administrative?  And, will I learn anything? The answer is yes and yes. A great deal of the work is administrative and members of the Howerton+Wooten Events team will take some time before and after each project you are a part of to ensure the following —

  1. We want to ensure that you understand how to carry out the tasks within the project you are given.
  2. We want you to understand why the project is important and its impact on our client’s event.
  3. We want to discuss your take-aways from the actual project.

How much does this internship pay? This is a part time, unpaid internship. You will be paid a stipend that is based on your commute and the length of your internship.

Do I need a car? You don’t have to have a car, but you will need a reliable form of transportation to take you around the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Where will I work? You will work in our Bowie, Maryland home office.

When will I need to work? It all depends upon your college credit requirements.  Typically, our interns work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Your weekend hours will vary by the wedding or event. We welcome summer and fall internship positions.

Best of luck!

Love & Soul Always, Kay
